Positions and Functions
A call for candidates is now open for those interested in filling three seats on the LACNIC Board of Directors.
The Board is comprised of eight members who serve on a voluntary basis (unpaid) and their term has a duration of three years.
Candidates for the Board of Directors must adhere to the LACNIC Board Member Commitment and sign this document before assuming their duties if elected to one of the three available positions.
Members of the Board are responsible for executive decisions related to the ratification of policy proposals, convening member assemblies, overseeing the management and follow-up of LACNIC's financial reports, monitoring the Strategic Plan, and defining the necessary internal procedures and regulations, among other duties. Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must be citizens of the countries or territories that are part of the LACNIC service region.
- According to the Bylaws, no more than two directors may be citizens of the same country or territory in the region. Since there are currently two members of the Board of Directors from Mexico, Mexican citizens may not be nominated in these elections.
- Not more than one member may have employment or consultancy ties with the same company or organization.
- Candidates may or may not be part of the organization submitting their nomination. Self-nominations are also permitted.

Who Can Submit a Nomination?
Any LACNIC member: Internet Service Providers (ISPs), End Users, and Founding Members.
Nominations must be submitted by the organization's designated representative registered in LACNIC's database (Nic Brasil – NIC Mexico), i.e., the organization's membership contact.
The organization submitting the nomination must be current with their annual membership fees. Each organization may nominate only one candidate.
Who Can Support a Candidate?
Nominations must be supported by two members other than the organization nominating the candidate. These members will also endorse the accuracy of the information submitted by the candidate, as well as their competency and suitability.
Expressions of support must be submitted by the organization's designated representative registered in LACNIC's database (Nic Brasil – NIC Mexico), i.e., the organization's membership contact.
The organization submitting the expression of support must be current with their membership fees.
Each organization may express their support for only one candidate.

Important: The official language of LACNIC is Spanish, which is the language used in all our texts. However, to accommodate our non-Spanish-speaking members, most of our documents are translated.
Please note that the competency assessment will be conducted in Spanish.
