Positions and Functions
The call for candidates to fill 2 positions on LACNIC’s Electoral Commission is now open.
The Electoral Commission is comprised of five members and is responsible for overseeing and certifying the elections for the bodies established under the LACNIC Bylaws. It also organizes vote counts and announces election results.
Each of the members of the Electoral Commission serves a three-year term. Each year, one or two of the positions are renewed as applicable. Members are eligible for reelection provided that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Responsibilities of the Electoral Commission:
Who can be nominated?
- Candidates must be citizens of the countries or territories that are part of the LACNIC service region.
- Not more than one member with the same citizenship may be part of the Electoral Commission. Under the Bylaws, not more than one member of the Electoral Commission may be citizens of the same country. Therefore, Mexican, Peruvian, and Paraguayan candidates will not be eligible to run in these elections.
- Not more than one member may have employment or consultancy ties with the same company or organization.
- Candidates may or may not be part of the organization submitting their nomination (self-nominations are allowed).
The incompatibilities and conflicts of interest that apply to members of the Electoral Commission are detailed in theLACNIC Bylaws.

Who can submit a nomination?
LACNIC members —Internet Service Providers (ISPs), End Users, and Founding Members— through the organization's designated representative (membership contact) registered in the LACNIC (Nic Brasil – Nic Mexico) database.
The organization submitting the nomination must be current with its membership fees. Each organization may only nominate one candidate.
Expressions of support
Candidates must be endorsed by two members other than the member submitting the nomination, who at the same time must endorse the accuracy of the information submitted by the candidate in their nomination, as well as the candidate's competency and suitability.
Expressions of support must be submitted through the organization's designated representative (membership contact) registered in the LACNIC (Nic Brasil – Nic Mexico) database.
The organization submitting the expression of support must be current with their membership fees. Each organization may express their support for only one candidate.

Reception of Nominations and Expressions of Support for the 2024 Electoral Commission Elections
Important: The three forms must be completed before 15 February 2024 at 18:00 UTC.
In case of self-nominations:
- Complete the Candidate Nomination Form, which requests some initial information about the candidate and about the member submitting the nomination.
- Complete the Candidate Questionnaire with information to verify the candidate's potential incompatibilities, capacities, and suitability, as well as with information on the members supporting and endorsing the veracity of the candidate's information.
- Complete the Candidate Bio and the LACNIC Electoral Commission Questionnaire.
In case of nominations by a third party:
The person submitting the nomination must:
- Complete the Candidate Nomination Form, which requests some initial information about the candidate and about the member submitting the nomination.
The candidate must:
- Complete the Candidate Questionnaire with information to verify the candidate's potential incompatibilities, capacities, and suitability, as well as with information on the members supporting and endorsing the veracity of the candidate's information.
- Complete the Candidate Bio and the LACNIC Electoral Commission Questionnaire.
