CALL FOR CANDIDATES

In accordance with the provisions of Article 22 of the LACNIC Bylaws, the Board is summoning an extraordinary election to fill a permanent vacancy on the Electoral Commission.

Once the Electoral Commission confirms the election results, the winning candidate will immediately assume their position and serve for the remainder of the term (2027 elections).

Position and Functions

The Commission is comprised of five members. It is responsible for overseeing and certifying the election processes for the bodies established under the LACNIC Bylaws, as well as for organizing their vote count and announcing the results.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Under the LACNIC Bylaws, not more than one member of the Electoral Commission may be a citizen of the same country. Therefore, candidates from Paraguay, Mexico, Peru, and Argentina are not eligible to run in these elections.

  • Candidates must be citizens of the countries or territories that are part of the LACNIC service region.
  • Not more than one member may have employment or consultancy ties with the same company or organization.
  • Candidates may or may not be part of the organization submitting their nominations (self-nominations are allowed).

The incompatibilities and conflicts of interest that apply to members of the Electoral Commission are detailed in the LACNIC Bylaws.

Nominations are verified by the Electoral Commission based on the Regulations Regarding Incompatibilities and Capacities. 

Who can nominate a candidate?

LACNIC Members: Internet Service Providers (ISPs), End Users, and Founding Members. Through the organization's designated representative (membership contact: LACNIC, IAR MX, BR REGISTRATION) registered in the LACNIC database.

The organization submitting the nomination must be current with their membership fees. Each organization may only nominate one candidate.

Who can endorse a candidate?

Candidates must be endorsed by two LACNIC member organizations other than the organization submitting the nomination, i.e., a total of three organizations are required to submit a nomination. The two organizations endorsing the candidate will also endorse the accuracy of the information submitted by the candidate, as well as the candidate's competence and suitability.

Endorsements must be submitted through the organization's membership contact registered in the LACNIC database.

The organizations must be current with their membership fees.

Each organization may endorse only one candidate.

Candidate Nomination Forms

Important:

  • Both self-nominations and third-party nominations are allowed.
  • All forms must be completed before 18 June at 18:00 UTC.
  • Completing all four forms is mandatory to proceed with the nomination process.
  • The estimated time to complete all forms is approximately 15-20 minutes.
