LACNIC Launches Course on Internet Governance (in Spanish)

3 November 2020

The LACNIC Campus is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the first edition of its new course titled “Introduction to Internet Governance in LAC,”  a LACNIC initiative developed with the valuable contribution of ICANN and LACTLD.

This free course was prepared by experts Carolina Aguerre and Fátima Cambronero and opens a new thematic line on LACNIC's online educational platform, one that seeks to introduce the community to Internet Governance issues considering the perspectives and contributions of regional actors.

Registration will remain open until 16 November and participants may begin the course starting on 23 November. They will then have six weeks to complete their training.
The modules will be presented in self-study format on a user-friendly platform and will have a total duration of 30 hours.

The proposal seeks to present Internet Governance issues to members of the community, awaken their interest and encourage their participation in national, sub-regional and regional Internet spaces.

The course will address various aspects related to the management of Internet resources and the problems associated with their use and impact at a social and economic level. It will also briefly present the contributions of Latin American and Caribbean actors and share links to Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance spaces.

This will allow students to acquire knowledge on the institutional topics that are part of the Internet ecosystem, such as its architecture, as well as on topics related to human rights and the Internet, the digital economy, cybersecurity, and emerging topics such as blockchain and artificial intelligence.

At the end of each module, students will have the option to take a self-evaluation to test their knowledge. Completing the course requires passing a final examination. LACNIC will present a certificate to participants who score 70% or more the final this test.
