Summary
Internet development depends on the existence of proper communications infrastructure and proper connectivity between countries. An efficient traffic flow requires not only the existence of fiber infrastructure, but also the interconnection of networks at BGP protocol level, whether through agreements between operators or via local Internet exchange points (IXPs). This is why creating indicators and measuring the status and evolution of our networks is essential. In this webinar, we will present the results obtained after conducting an analysis of global collector BGP tables to understand how the countries of our region are interconnected with each other and with the rest of the world. We will also explain the tools used to conduct similar studies.

Augusto Mathurin
Augusto teaches at Argentina's Universidad Tecnológica Nacional and is CTO of Lyris IT. He has collaborated with LACNIC since 2019, first as a consultant for the FORT project, for which he prepared a routing incident diagnosis report, then researching on BGP interconnection in the region. In 2020, he was part of the first cohort of researchers for the MANRS Fellowship Program supported by the Internet Society.
