FRIDA: Presentation and exchange on results and solutions at a regional level

Summary

Since its inception in 2004, FRIDA has played a key role in strengthening and advancing the Internet in the region. This program has provided financial and technical support to projects, initiatives, and solutions that address the various challenges faced by the region in areas such as Internet Stability and Security, Connectivity and Internet Access, and Open and Free Internet.

This is the first of two webinars where we will present the results and solutions generated by some of the projects in recent years, with special emphasis on the following aspects:

  • Regional, national, or local challenges that originated the projects
  • Key features of the projects, the problems they addressed, and the solutions they were able to find
  • Main outcomes
  • Potential for replication in other organizations/contexts and lessons learned

  • Laura Kaplan, Development & Cooperation Manager
  • Alessia Zucchetti, Research & Cooperation Projects Coordinator
  • Melquiades (Kiado) Cruz
    • Zapotec communicator, activist and social researcher. He is co-founder of University Services and Knowledge Networks in Oaxaca, where he currently collaborates. He was also coordinator of the project. He is also an active member of several collectives and community initiatives, such as the Centro Universitario del Pueblo Xhidza (CEUXhidza).
  • Gildardo Juárez Vega
    • Responsible for Institutional Relations. Social communicator in training and produces the radio program "Pez en el Surco", together with the Surco team, he has designed content on human rights in digital contexts, especially focused on rural and indigenous areas.
  • Graciela Bertancud
    • Director and technical advisor of the Project - Graduated in Educational Technology, President of the Tomás Alba Edison Foundation and Founder of the first Robotics school in Argentina Probot School. She is interested in bridging the digital divide. She is the founder of the Education Network for Mendoza, implementation of the Mendoza Futura project, a program to awaken vocations in young people from 12 to 17 years of age jointly with the government of the province of Mendoza.
  • Facundo Heras
    • Project Coordinator and work teams - Graduate in Sociology. Specialist in Social Management and with training in the implementation of SDGs in the Management of organizations. He has specialized in strategic planning processes, monitoring, transparency and citizen participation. In these areas, he has advised and collaborated with different levels of government and State powers and has served as a consultant in various programs implemented by Civil Society and financed by different organizations. He is the Executive Director of Fundación Nuestra Mendoza, an organization dedicated to promoting citizen participation and transparency in Government Management. He is a member of the Free Chair of Social Responsibility and a member of the Sustainability team of the National University of Cuyo.
