LACNIC Creates New Position to Work with Local Internet Communities in Central America

LACNIC, the Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean, has appointed Cesar Diaz as External Relations Officer for Central America. Diaz is a leading expert in the field of ICTs who has in-depth knowledge of local Central American realities and has been working in Internet development and promotion for more than 20 years.

"We are proud to add César to the LACNIC team. We believe he will make a significant contribution to our relations with the Central American community," said Raúl Echeberría, LACNIC's Executive Director.

Díaz has extensive experience in the ICT sector. Among other positions, he was Deputy Network Director for Panama´s National Public Services Authority, Coordinator of the Standardization Committee of the Regional Telecommunications Technical Commission for Central America (COMTELCA), and Panamanian representative to organizations such as CITEL and the ITU.

"There are several projects in Central America seeking to strengthen regional broadband connectivity in order to offer the population in general, the private sector and governments greater access to the Internet and online services. LACNIC wants to support and contribute to improving Internet connectivity and development in the various countries that are part of the region," explained Díaz.
