FRIDA Program Opens Call for Proposals to Fund Projects Related to Internet Development

27 April 2022

FRIDA, the Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean, announces the opening of the 2022 call for proposals to provide funding to projects, initiatives, and solutions that contribute to the consolidation of a global, open, stable, and secure Internet.

This year's call for proposals focuses on three thematic categories: Internet Stability and Security; Connectivity and Internet Access; and Open and Free Internet. Each of these categories covers specific thematic areas.

In addition, this year FRIDA has included a new subcategory focused on the use and application of Blockchain under the Internet Stability and Security category.

Applicants may submit their proposals to receive funding under two formats: grants and awards. Grants provide non-reimbursable funds and technical support to projects, initiatives, or solutions with a maximum duration of 12 months. Awards offer an economic recognition and highlight projects, initiatives, or solutions with proven, concrete impact.

The call for proposals will remain open until Tuesday, 31 May 2022.

Since its creation in 2004, FRIDA has provided grants to support 114 projects and 7 project scale-ups and presented 47 awards, thus contributing to promote Internet development across Latin America and the Caribbean.
