Casa de Internet for Latin America and the Caribbean received a visit from authorities of the International Telecommunications Union along with more than 120 members of delegations representing 22 different countries who met in Montevideo for the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Americas for the 2014 World Telecommunications Development Conference.
LACNIC, the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Address Registry, hosted a social event at Casa de Internet on the evening of Wednesday, 21st August.
Houlin Zhao, ITU Deputy Secretary General, was very pleased by the invitation and highlighted the richness and productivity of the debates that took place at the forum held in Montevideo.
Raul Echeberria, LACNIC's CEO, thanked the ITU authorities and visiting delegations for their visit and highlighted the values that the building itself and the organizations it hosts represent. "This House is open to everyone, it's a transparent house built on structures previously developed by others. This is how we envision the Internet," he noted.
