Interconnection Status in Latin America and the Caribbean
A new study on interconnection in Latin America and the Caribbean conducted by expert Augusto Mathurín and led by LACNIC points out that deficiencies still exist in local connectivity between different network operators.
According to this study, this is the reason why traffic between nearby countries must often use Internet exchange points in the United States or Europe.
The installation of multiple Internet Exchange Points in the region has improved this situation.
