Communities: An Important Traffic Engineering Tool
Thursday October 14, 2021
Tutorial description
Communities are an important tool in the life of an Autonomous System network administrator, as they can be used to influence a network's internal and external traffic, discard traffic from a denial-of-service attack (RTBH), disconnect BGP sessions without losing valid traffic (Graceful Shutdown), and much more.
This tutorial will cover the different types of communities and some traffic engineering use cases where BGP communities can be applied. It will also present the IX.br communities (along with the latest news) which participants can use to change traffic within their structure.
