Citizens of the countries or territories that are part of the LACNIC service region who meet the requirements established in the Regulations on Candidate Competencies and Suitability may run for office. The Electoral Commission is responsible for verifying compliance with these requirements.

Active “A” Members and Founding Members of LACNIC have the right to vote, in accordance with the statutory provisions in force

The Electoral Commission is responsible for overseeing and certifying election processes, including counting votes, determining results, and announcing elected candidates. In the event of a tie, the Electoral Commission will resolve the situation in accordance with the applicable regulations and procedures.

When there is only one candidate for a statutory position, the candidacy is put to a vote with the option to abstain, in accordance with the applicable regulations governing the election.
