Call for candidates
A call for candidates for a position on LACNIC’s Electoral Commission is now open.
Position and Responsibilities
The Commission is comprised of five members. It is responsible for overseeing and certifying the election processes for the bodies established under the LACNIC Bylaws, as well as for organizing vote counts and announcing results.
Members of the Commission each serve a three-year term. Each year, one or two of the positions are renewed as applicable. Members are eligible for reelection provided they meet the corresponding eligibility criteria.
Responsibilities of the Electoral Commission
Eligibility Requirements
- Not more than one member with the same citizenship may be part of the Electoral Commission. Under the Bylaws, not more than one member of the Electoral Commission may be citizens of the same country. Therefore, candidates from Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Brazil will not be eligible to run in this election.
- Candidates must be citizens of the countries or territories that are part of the LACNIC service region.
- Not more than one member may have employment or consultancy ties with the same company or organization.
- Candidates may or may not be part of the organization submitting their nominations (self-nominations are allowed).

Who can submit a nomination?
LACNIC members: Internet Service Providers (ISPs), End Users, and Founding Members, through the organization's designated representative (membership contact) registered in the LACNIC (Nic Brasil – Nic México) database.
The organization submitting the nomination must be current with their membership fees. Each organization may nominate only one candidate.
Who can support a candidate?
Nominations must be supported by two members other than the organization nominating the candidate. These members will also endorse the accuracy of the information submitted by the candidate, as well as the candidate's competency and suitability.
Expressions of support must be submitted through the organization's membership contact registered in the LACNIC (Nic Brasil – Nic México) database.
The organization submitting the expression of support must be current with their membership fees.
Each organization may express their support for only one candidate.
