Call for Candidates to Host Copies of the DNS Root Server

15 March 2022

As part of its +Raices program, LACNIC is calling for Latin American and Caribbean organizations interested in hosting copies of the DNS root server.

The main goal of +Raíces is the installation of anycast root server copies in the countries of the LACNIC region. It provides redundancy and reduces criticality, allowing for a better response in case of potential DDoS attacks or eventual infrastructure failures that render certain root servers inoperative.

LACNIC's role is to coordinate with potential host organizations and those providing the root servers, in this case Netnod, as well as to promote these new root servers. In certain cases, LACNIC may sponsor the installation of a root server copy.
