LACNIC 2022 Technical Forum, Call for Presentations

LACNIC is calling the Internet community to submit their proposals for presentations to be included on the LTF agenda during our upcoming LACNIC 37 event. The event will be held in hybrid format on 2 to 6 May 2022 in Cali, Colombia, provided that the health situation allows it.

The LACNIC Technical Forum (LTF) is a space included in LACNIC's annual events, created for the international community to share their experiences, work, and initiatives related to various technical aspects of a common topic: Internet development in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Types of Presentations

The FTL will accept three types of presentations:

  1. Short presentation: 10-minute presentation plus 5 minutes for questions.

  2. Full-length presentation: 20-minute presentation plus 5 minutes for questions.

  3. Poster: work that will be exhibited on the event website but will not be presented live during the LTF.

In all cases, the time allocated to each presentation must be strictly observed and the space reserved for audience participation must be respected.

Topics

The following is a list of some of the topics of interest to the LTF, which we provide as a guide for participants who wish to submit a presentation. This list, however, is not exhaustive, as other technical topics of interest to the regional community may be addressed in proposals submitted in response to the call for presentations.

  • Operation of IP networks (success stories, best practices, etc.)

  • Internet protocols (routing, switching, etc.)

  • Domain Name System (DNS)

  • Interconnection of autonomous systems (peering, IXPs, CDNs, etc.)

  • IPv6: transition, deployment, advances

  • Measurements, tools, and analysis of protocols and Internet in general

  • Cybersecurity

  • Protocols and experiences related to the Internet of Things (IoT)

  • Infrastructure and transport

  • Value-added services such as VPNs, distributed systems, cloud computing, etc.

All proposals submitted for the LTF must respect the following format:

  1. Title of the presentation

  2. Complete or advanced presentation that will allow a clear evaluation of the work. Abstracts or presentations that contain only a description of the work that has been carried out will not be accepted. 3. Presentation format: short presentation, full-length presentation, or poster.

  4. Information about the authors (full name, email address, and company/organization they represent).

  5. Accepted languages: English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

  6. Accepted formats: only PDF files will be accepted in the assessment phase. If a presentation is accepted, the author may ask for permission to use other formats. This must be agreed with LACNIC based on the software available for the event.

Selection Criteria

The evaluators will rate each proposal according to predefined requirements specified in the call for presentations.

The following evaluation criteria will be considered:

  1. Technical quality

  2. Originality

  3. Value in sharing the work
