LACNIC Starts Processing Inter-RIR Transfers

21 July 2020

The Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean announces that the policy that allows IPv4 transfers outside the region without the need for a merger or acquisition among the companies involved is active as of today.

This policy was ratified on 20 June 2019, and its implementation represented a major technological challenge as it required the integration of approximately 11 different systems with multiple connections between the different Regional Internet Registries (RIRs).

Organizations interested in offering or receiving IPv4 addresses from the other registries with reciprocal policies (RIPE NCC, APNIC and ARIN) must meet a series of requirements as described in LACNIC's Policy Manual.

Direct members of LACNIC must complete the corresponding administrative process through http://milacnic.lacnic.net, filling the forms provided on the platform. Watch a video of the instructions here.

Organizations in Brazil and Mexico must contact their respective NIRs.

This 29 July, LACNIC will organize a webinar to present this new service. Simultaneous interpretation into English, Spanish and Portuguese will be provided for this activity. We invite you to click here to register.
