LACNIC appoints Interim CEO following the resignation of the organization's founder, Raúl Echeberría

Montevideo, 30 June 2014.

Today, LACNIC's Board of Directors appointed the organization's Communications Manager, Ernesto Majó, to serve as Interim CEO following the resignation of its current Executive Director, Raúl Echeberría.

Since its creation in 2002 and under Echeberría's leadership, LACNIC has grown significantly as an institution and has developed its ability to affect and bring a Latin American and Caribbean voice to the Information Society.

Oscar Messano, President of LACNIC's Board of Directors, thanked Echeberría for his 12 years at the head of the organization: "Raúl (Echeberría) has led our organization to levels of success and recognition we could never have imagined."

Meanwhile, Echeberría highlighted LACNIC's outstanding human resources. "Without this team's dedication and commitment and the constant support of the Board, it would have been impossible to achieve the success we have achieved," said the outgoing CEO.

As of now, Ernesto Majó will serve as the organization's Executive Director until a new CEO is in office.
