IP Request

LACNIC provides IP and ASN resources to Organizations located in Latin America and the Caribbean region. However, Organizations established in Mexico or Brazil must request to the corresponding NIRs as detailed below:

ISP

If your Organization is an Internet Service Provider, grants Webhosting services, Co-location, VPS, dedicated connections, submit the request as an ISP.

Since we are currently in phase 3 of IPv4 exhaustion, the allocation for ISPs will be only a block of prefix /22.

End user

If your Organization will be using the resources for your own infrastructre, without re-assigning to third parties (Ej. Banks, Government Entities, Universities, etc), submit the request as an End User.

Since we are currently in phase 3 of IPv4 exhaustion, the assignation for End Users will be a maximum of a /22 block and a minimum of a /24 block.

Requirements

  • Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
  • Prove utilization or immediate necessity of a /24.
  • Submit a detailed one-year plan for a /23.
  • Agree to renumber out of the previously assigned blocks and return those IPv4 addresses to their ISPs no later that 12 months after the allocation of the /22.
  • If the applicant does not already have an IPv6 block assigned by LACNIC, simultaneously request one.

Requirements

  • Be legally established within the region and use the resources in LACNIC's coverage area.
  • Be a MultiHomed Organization, which means to have at least two active links from independent providers. In case they are not MultiHomed yet, they must be planning to be one within a 6 month window presenting detailed justification.
  • Prove utilization or immediate necessity of 25% of the requested space and 50% within 12 months.
  • Agree to renumber out of the previously assigned blocks and return those IPv4 addresses to their ISPs no later that 3 months after the allocation of the block.
  • If the applicant does not already have an IPv6 block assigned by LACNIC, simultaneously request one.

ISP

The minimum allocation for an ISP is a /32 prefix.

End user

If your Organization will be using the resources for your own infrastructre, without re-assigning to third parties (Ej. Banks, Government Entities, Universities, etc), submit the request as an End User.

The assignation for End Users will be a maximum of a /32 block and a minimum of a /48 block.

Requirements

  • Document a detailed plan for the services and IPv6 connectivity to be offered to other Organizations.
  • Announce the allocated block in the Internet inter-domain routing system, with the minimum possible level of disaggregation, within a period no longer than 12 months.
  • Offer IPv6 services to clients physically located in the region covered by LACNIC within a period not longer than 24 months.

 

Requirements

  • Announce the allocated block in the Internet inter-domain routing system, with the minimum possible level of disaggregation.
  • Provide detalied information showing how the requested block will be used in the next 3, 6 and 12 months.
  • Sumbit a detailed description of the network topology.
  • Prepare a detailed description of the network routing plans, including the routing protocols to be used.

LACNIC allocates by default 32 bit ASNs. However, an exchange for a 16 bit ASN can be requested in case there are incompatibilities with the organization or provider equipment.

Requirements

  • The organization must have the need to interconnect with other independent Autonomous Systems at the time of the application, or be planning to interconnect within a period of no more than six (6) month as of the moment of the application. After this period, LACNIC may revoke the assigned ASN if it has not been used.
  • Detail the applicant's routing policy, specifying the ASNs with which the organization will interconnect and the IP addresses that will be announced through the requested ASN.
