Hotel Paradisus is the venue chosen to host the upcoming LACNIC 21 regional event, "Building the Future of the Internet: Security, Transparency and Participation", that will be held on 4-9 May, 2014 in Cancun, Mexico, organized by NIC.mx and LACNIC.
The LACNIC 21 event will bring together the Latin American and Caribbean Internet community, providing a space for exchanging experiences and analyzing the issues that hold the key to the Internet's future in the region. LACNIC meetings are typically attended by more than 400 experienced professionals from leading organizations, as well as government, academia and civil society representatives.
Among other topics, the LACNIC 21 program will include current computer security challenges, how to strengthen the participation of all stakeholders in Internet Governance when faced with proposals to increase government control, and the new IPv4 to IPv6 transition scenario now that IPv4 exhaustion is imminent and anticipated to occur in the early months of 2014.
The event will include activities such as the Internet Governance panel, several technical tutorials, the Public Policy Forum, the Women and IT luncheon, the IPv6 panel, the Network Security Forum (LACSEC), the LACTLD meeting, the LAC-IX meeting, the Regional Interconnection Forum, and the Latin American IPv6 Forum (FLIP6), among others.
In addition, the Peering Forum will also meet within the framework of LACNIC 21. This space seeks to provide the opportunity for the region's major Internet Service Providers, Content Providers and Internet Exchange Points to discuss and negotiate peering and transit agreements.
