Description of the issues of the proposals that were generated and adopted through policy development processes in other Regional Internet Registries. These presentations are of great relevance, because experience shows that what is an issue in one region today will be the topic of discussion in another region tomorrow. This presentation is a summary that updates these discussions.

One of the recommendations that were originated through different forums is the need to have a routing database for Latin-America and the Caribbean. This section presents the possibility of setting up this service through LACNIC. The purpose is to analyze the advantages, benefits and alternatives of this Service.

The Number Resource Organization (NRO) is the organization that encompasses the four Regional Internet Registries that are currently in operation. This report shows how Internet resource demand has evolved at a global level during the past months through the exchange of statistical information among NRO members.

This is a proposal that refers to the recovery of Internet resources that are identified as unutilized. Currently there is no policy that considers that LACNIC has the authority to recover resources that have already been allocated. This proposal is presented before the public forum in pursuance of the conservation and good use of resources objective.

The aim of this proposal is to establish how IANA will distribute the IPv6 space to the Regional Internet Registries. This is an effort to establish a global policy, one which will the same for any Regional Internet Registry.

Update on the advances of LACNIC in relation to Engineering, both internal and external. New statistics services, announcements of new services that support IPv6, new projects, etc.

LACNIC's Registration Services report shows statistical information about the distribution of the different IPv4, IPv6, and ASN resources. In addition, it contains figures on the volume of applications that have been received and the processing of those applications.

This is presentation about the use of Internet resources at a global level. It is a graphic presentation which gives us a clear idea of the different growth rates that Internet has experienced through time and the lifetime expected for IPv4 and ASN resources.

This proposal tries to define new criteria for IPv4 block allocation. There is a fundamental criterion for the allocation of IPv4 address space, which is that the applicant must already have a previously assigned volume. This proposal seeks to redefine the conditions that an applicant must satisfy in order to justify the allocation of an address block on the part of LACNIC.

Currently, the initial IPv4 address allocation policy establishes that an applicant must justify before LACNIC that it already has a volume of addresses assigned by the applicant's ISP and registered in the WHOIS Database. This session seeks to identify and establish new criteria or mechanisms for assessing these applications, providing new alternatives for those who are applying for IPv4 addresses in order to justify an initial allocation.
