Project for the Installation of F Root Server Copies in LACNIC'S Region
Internet Systems Consortium (ISC), NIC Chile and LACNIC have installed a new root server in Santiago de Chile, Chile

Within the framework of LACNIC's +Raices Project, an agreement between ISC and LACNIC, an anycast copy of the F root server operated by ISC has been installed within the LACNIC region.

The installation of the root server in Chile will enhance the reach, strength and response times of the DNS system (a key building block of the Internet's infrastructure) regionally as well as globally.

The +Raices program is just another LACNIC’s initiative to promote the Information Society and the development of Internet in the Latin-American and the Caribbean region.

Organizations involved in the project are currently working to set up 3 additional nodes of F-root in Latin America in the next few months.
