Dear Members of the LACNIC Community

Reference: Transition of oversight of the IANA functions in the management of Internet numbering resources (IP addresses, ASN)

We are writing to you as members of the Latin American and Caribbean Internet community to invite you to participate in the consultation process relating to the stewardship role of the IANA functions in the management of Internet numbering resources in the hope of receiving contributions that will reflect our region's interests and concerns.

As you know, a global transition process kicked off after the announcement published by the NTIA on 14 March.

The LACNIC community is no stranger to this process and, on August 15, a consultation process began in which all members can participate and which will include several stages so that a summary document containing all contributions and reflecting regional discussions can be prepared and presented to the LACNIC Board in the month of November.

In order for every member of the Community to have the chance to submit their contributions before 15 September 2014, the date on which the first stage of the consultation process is set to close, the internet-gov@lacnic.net mailing list has been created.

On the following LACNIC website we've published information and documents that will help gain a deeper understanding of the context as well as the timeline for the consultation process.

Active participation of all community members will allow us to make a constructive contribution to this global process, one that will reflect our region's concerns regarding the transition of oversight of the IANA functions in the management of Internet numbering resources.

We look forward to your participation and remain at your disposal should you have any questions or doubts.
